"Established in 1954, the mission of the Department of Education is to prepare excellent teachers for elementary and secondary schools, to develop strong educational administrative professionals, to train educational researchers, and to produce educational training personnel with diverse talents. At the graduate level, the Department seeks to develop critical approaches to identifying and solving problems in education while preparing students to pursue original, high-quality research. Future developments include the establishment of a Graduate Institute of Educational Administration and Policy, a Center for Educational Leadership, a Chinese Testing and Educational Evaluation Research Center, a Center for Educational Research, and a Research Center for Alternative Education."
